“The Watchtower,” one of the most widely circulated religious magazines in the: world, is 100 years old this! month. The magazine is now published fortnightly in 9.2 million copies and distributed' house to house by 22 mil-; lion .Jehovah’s Witnesses in: 205 countries. It is published in 82 languages. including Afrikaans, Chinese. Russian, Samoan, Pidgin English and even
lesser known tongues such as Zulu and Greenlandic. i The first ‘‘Watchtower” was published in Pennsylva-1 Inia in July, 1879. and was I distributed in English in 6000 copies. • More than two million I copies of “The Watchtower” land its companion magazine,! (“Awake,” are distributed inj 'New Zealand annually,! ■according to the Watchtower I Bible and Tract Society in i Auckland.
