Car examined

PA Auckland Auckland detectives investigating the death of Margaret Bell are still examining a light blue Valiant car they found at Mount Maunganui at the week-end. A similar car was seen speeding away from the Main Street Cabaret in Queen Street two weeks ago lust after Miss Bell was shot dead. Police say the car has been resold since the killing.

Witnesses of Miss Bell’s death described the paintwork of the speeding car as patchv. The car found at Maunganui has apparently had some recent panel work.

The head of the inquiry, Detective inspector B. J. Rowe, said last evening that detectives were still checking the movements of the car during the weekend of Miss Bell’s killing. He also said the team of detectives would be scaled down today from 30 to 22

now that most of the groundwork had been covered. The police have now executed 45 search warrants and arrested nine persons on drug-related charges in the search for .’iss Bell’s killer.
