Chenery orders good

PA Auckland Forward orders of Chenery Holdings. Ltd, in the new financial year to March 31 were encouraging for both local and export markets, says the chairman (Mr H. S. Rose) in the annual report.

Export sales of $349,000 for the year ended in March 31 were up to 20 per cent, but below expectations. Group turnover of $6,995,916 was 4.4 per cent higher. A 47.2 per cent increase in taxation, to $156,526, eroded profit. The directors consider the result satisfactory, particularly in view of reduced activity in the contracting field

Profitability of the contracting and maintenance divisions improved, while manufacturing divisions consolidated, Mr Rose says. World-wide demand for copper has produced supply difficulties. A new division was established during the year to install and maintain fire protection equipment. This is a natural extension of existing contracting activities Mr Rose says.
