Iraqi dates arrive
New season’s Iraqi cooking dates have landed in New Zealand and should be in shops now. at the same price as last year. New Zealand’s per cent devaluation has raised the price of imported foodstuffs, but the dates worked out the same this year because the overseas price fell slightly. Shipment of the date., from Iraq by container also cut costs a little. Devaluation has also
affected the amount of canned pineapple coming into New Zealand: import licences are based on a financial figure and not on quantity. We should see more canned pineapple from Thailand and China on shop shelves as some special licences have been issued. However, this does not alter the fact that the range of types and sizes of pineapple coming into New Zealand is not as wide asusual
