Police looking for hitch-hiker
PA Wellington The police want to talk to a male European hitchhiker seen about the time that a Lower Hutt man was battered to death last week. George Errol Engelbrecht, aged 94, was killed at his home about 8.3 Q p.m. on Thursday. Detective- Inspector C. W. Wilson said yesterday that the hitch-hiker was seen near the house about
8 p.m., trying to hitch a ride southwards to Petone. The man might be able to help police with their inquiries, he said. A group of male Polynesians who were in the area that evening are also sought as possible witnesses. A police team of 57 working on the inquiry turned up a bonus yesterday when they arrested the thief of a Holden car, CU7575.
