Former rugby star fined
PA Palmerston North A former All Black, Palmerston North City councillor, and public relations officer, lan Neven Mac Ewan, was fined $5OO in the Magistrate’s Court at Palmerston North yesterday when sentenced on a charge of theft as a servant. Mac Ewan, aged 45, a bookseller, had pleaded guilty to a charge relating to a period from December, 1975, to November, 1977, when he stole $2978 while a servant of the Manawatu branch of the National Travel Association.
All the money was repaid before the police became involved, said counsel for MacEwan (Mr D. McKegg).
