TV sales at Cannes
Wellington reporter Sales of New Zealandmade films and television programmes initiated at the annual market in Cannes are expected to total more than $200,000 when all potential contracts are finalised, according to the Film Commission. This figure represents likely results from contacts made by the Film Commission on behalf of several independent film makers who took their own films there, by Television One and the National Film Unit. New Zealand films from all these sources were listed in a New Zealand catalogue which was widely distributed to potential buyers all over the
world a month before the market. This is the largest TV market in the world. This year a record 104 countries were representated, with a total of 246 television organisations, 617 production and distribution companies, and 863 other film and tele-vision-related organisations. Both the Film Commission and television had their own stands, said the commission. South Pacific Television did not market its programmes through either of the New Zealand stands. Its productions were represented at the Thames Television stand by its programmes controller, Mr Kevan Moore.
