Exporters helped
Manufacturers will welcome the export incentives announced in the Budget, according to the senior vice-president of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association (Mr W. B. Beaven). But Mr Beaven said that manufacturers would not know what effect the incentive scheme would have “until we have a look at the fine print.” The devaluation of 5 per cent would help exporters, especially those exporting to Australia, because the Australian dollar had been moving down.
