Canterbury made a slow’ start frit it recovered to retain the A. L Paterson indoor bowls trophy gainst Golden Bay-Motueka in ts second defence of the trophy Fas season. Canterbury, after feing behind, 10-14. at half-way, Wen tu ally won. 29-19. Golden Bay-Motueka won three If the first round pairs lontests, havled the singles, fat lost both fours. Ron Inglis res in impressive form for lolden Bay, losing only one patch — his first-round fours in i grand battle against Alf Wiltamson.
Canterbury’s Lloyd Bellis made Brush trip back from the New 7 tealand Working Men’s Clubs ihampionships at Nelson. He had Inly four hours sleep, but won Ils singles and pairs in both ounds. A newcomer to the team, Bill frembath, beat last year’s winter of the New Zealand A.N.Z. lank junior singles, Michael lohnson, 9-5. in the first round Ingles, and then just beat a vet-
