Smart trial by Gold Bullion
Special correspondent Palmerston North Woodville gallopers hold a strong hand in the Opapa Handicap at Hastings tomorrow. Two of the candidates, Gold Bullion and Plain Ruler, came through their filial trials satisfactorily yesterday. Fast work was done on the extreme outside of the course proper, which was soft. Gold Bullion and Kleio strode over 1200 m in Imin 19.35, the last 1000 in Imin 5.1 s and the final 600 in 39.1. They were travelling well. Gold Bullion has not run since finishing second to Daybreak at Woodville on May 8, but is ready to show, up. Kleio should be running on well in the Mahora: Handicap. Greg Childs will ride her, and. she would appreciate rain. Plain Ruler had Duty; Point as a companion over 1000 m in Imin 5-3 s, the last 600 in 40, They were galloping strongly all the way. Plain Ruler won well at Awapuni. Duty Point is starting to look close to his best again. Bruce Marsh i$ undecided about riders for his team. One of his apprentices, Phillip Aiderman, was suspended at Hayy.era yesterday. Dais and Topic ran the last 800 m of their work in 54.35. the last 600. in 38.5. Dais is another in the Opapa Handicap, Payeo and Big Tiema ran 1000 m, but could not be timed in the dark. Palace Prince and Rising Market recorded 41.2 for the last 600 m of their 800 m gallop.
Copper Kane took Imin 20s for 1200 m, the last 600 in 8.8. He has been disappointing, but gets another chance in the Rotopai Handicap. Annihilator and Paddy Waggon went 1000 m in Imin 7.35, the last 600 in 394. These two resume in the Clifton Handicap, and forward runs would not be surprising-
