Changes in golf team
Commitments with their teams in the Central Canterbury inter-club golf competition on Sunday have forced Geoff Saunders, lan Carruthers, Bob Pirie and Gregg Hanna to withdraw from the first provincial trial at Coringa on the same day. Two of Canterbury’s top golfers,. Bruce Taylor and Des Turner, are also not available. The six players
have been replaced by Malcolm Fry, Colin McNally, Wayne Tucker, Roy Newbum, Stephen Paterson and Peter McDonald. The match-play competition involves 24 seniors playing against 24 junjors. John Williamson will captain the senior- team and the Avondale No. 1, Ricky Vincent, will lead the juniors.
