Govt waives fee
PA Wellington Private students from overseas now at secondary school in New Zealand will not have to pay the $l5OO a year fee for tertiary study that overseas students will pay from next year, the Minister of
Education (Mr Wellington) announced yesterday. The Government was originally going to charge students now at secondary school the fee when they went on to university. But Mr Wellington said the Government had reconsidered the decision and would waive the fee.
“The charge wilf be waived for all private overseas ‘ students , at . present in New Zealand secondary schools .who go on to courses of tertiary study, not only those students in the sixth and seventh forms this year,” Mr Wellington said.
