This year marks the centenary of one of the most popular of the Savoyoperas of Gilbert and Sullivan, “The Pirates of Penzance,” and to mark the occasion the Risingholme Community Centre will present a production of the opera this month. Some of the principals are shown in these pictures: TOP, Ruth (played by Patti Pugh), the Sergeant of Police (Robb McGiffin), the Pirate King (Chris Donovan), and Mabel (Margaret Purdie. BELOW: Bevan Holdgate, as Major-General Stanley. The season will open in the Risingholme Theatre on Saturday, and run until June 30. There will be no Sunday performance.
