West Coast rail
Sir, — Your readers may be interested to know that not only can one travel to Greymouth and back in one day by rail but a very pleasant day can be spent at Arthur’s Pass using the same transport and timetable. Alternatively, if a shorter day is desired, it is possible to take the 9.40 a.m. train to the pass and to return by Railway Road Services bus at 3.10 p.m., arriving in Christchurch three hours later, Monday to Saturday inclusive. This trip gives an even wider variety of scenery and is an excellent way of showing visitors to this country something of our mountains. — Yours, etc., J. WAGHORN. June 14, 1979.
