Glister works attractively at Takanini
PA Auckland Glister relished the soft conditions at Takanini on Thursday morning when he beat his stablemate, Gaberton, in his final trial for the Carbine Club Stakes at Ellerslie today. All fast work took place 3m out on the No. 2 grass, which was soft and cutting out. Glister worked over 1200 m with Gaberton and finished about a length in front. The pair ran the distance in Imin 16.45, the final 1000 m in Imin 03.25. With similar conditions today, Glister could be hard to beat. Though shaded by Stevie

Silver Silk, which has been working in improved style lately, led Radiant Prince after 1000 m in imin 17.65, the final 600 m in 39.65.
Luck Roona completed his preparation for the Members’ Handicap by running 1000 m in Imin 6.85, the final 600 m in 42.45. It was good work by him as he galloped when the track had cut out. Red Scabal led Great Northern Steeplechase candidate, First Wood, by several lengths after 1600 m in Imin 50.4, the last 1200 m in Imin 20.4. Despite his defeat, First Wood looked fully fit for his big test on Monday.
