Condition improved
An Ashburton girl is still in the intensive care unit at Christchurch Hospital after she was struck by a car at the intersection of Madras Street and Moorhouse Avenue on Friday. She is Susan Katherine Porter, aged 16, of Burnett Street, Ashburton. The injured girl was still seriously ill, but her condition had improved slightly, a hospital spokesman said. The accident occurred] about 1 p.m.
