Mail-box burglars
Sir, — It would be a help to pensioners who feel a sense of insecurity about future benefit payments coming by post, to make sure that letter-boxes are as secure as possible and it is a help to the postman when the house number is clearly shown. Some boxes are so insecure that the wind may blow letters out. A good let-ter-box is made to lock when the owner is away. Postmen should oblige by making sure official-looking letters are well pushed in. Tell-tale letters sticking out. of boxes are easy prey to the increasing number of “mail-box burglars.” — Yours etc., A. DELHANTY. May 25, 1979.
