Sunnyside alterations
It was “back home” for 40 patients of the Seaforth Villa at Sunnyside Hospital yesterday. After two years and more than $lBO,OOO in renovations and alterations, the villa is now suitable for occupation. The alterations have removed the “barn-like” atmosphere of the 70-year-old wooden building, enabling greater emphasis to be given to the rehabilitation of the mentally handicapped patients. While waiting for the work to be completed by the hospital’s maintenance staff, the patients and staff of the villa were housed in the old B block of the hospital’s main building. This will be demolished in the next two months after Government approval has been given for finance for a new building.
