High week-end toll
Ten persons died on New Zealand roads during the week-end, the Press Association reports. Hawke’s Bay suffered worst: two young men died in an accident near Ormond; another young man died when a car hit a power pole near Karaka; and a girl passenger, aged 13, died in another car accident at Raupunga. A woman died in a twocar accident at Wanganui; a
youth, aged 19, was killed while fixing the muffler of his vehicle near Dunedin; and another youth died in a motor-cycle accident at Invercargill on Friday night. A map was killed at Whangaref in a head-on collision; a woman, aged 23, died at Auckland when another vehicle went against traffic lights; and a child cyclist, aged six, was killed at Taita in' an accident involving a truck.
