Woolcraft Society’s festival

Mrs Kathleen Low, of Lower Hutt, helps with final preparations before the opening of the tenth National Woolcrafts Festival at Lincoln College last evening. She is seen (at left) adjusting a tapestry called Andrew, 1978, woven by C. Verco, of South Australia. Sixty overseas weaversfrom the United States and Australia have come to New Zealand for the festival, organised by the New Zealand Spinning, Weaving, and Woolcraft Society. The festival was opened last evening by the principal of Lincoln College (Professor J. D. Stewart). The public may view the exhibition of handweaving and handspinning from 8.30 a. nt. to 7 p.m. today and tomorrow, and from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, when the festival will end. Work by weavers from throughout New Zealand is on display. Many of the items are for sale.
