Fun runs
Sir, — Fun runs are meant to be non-competitive community runs that encourage fitness. Let us try to keep them that way by not worrying about times and platings. The important
thing is to get out and run together and take a delight in becoming fit. We all have our own idea of fitness. By trying to achieve it we will really appreciate our bodies for what marvellous things they are. Until you consider yourself reasonably fit, it is pointless to test that fitness, and, in fact, it may spoil the satisfaction. Races are 1 as satisfying as ambition allows, but fitness is always satisfying, no matter what is the ability.—Yours, etc.,
BRENTON JOYCE. May 10, 1979.
