$8000 for wool mill
The first step towards the redevelopment of Kaiapoi’s woollen mill had been “more than accomplished” bv the raising of about $BOOO in public subscriptions in less than three weeks, said the Kaiapoi Development Trust’s information officer (Mr G. A. Smith) last evening. About $15,000 would be needed to seal overseas contacts and process an application for an equip-
ment import licence, he said. Public subscriptions closed yesterday, but they would unofficially stay open while the proposal’s backers formed a company, said Mr Smith. In about a month, a public meeting of subscribers would be held to explain steps already taken. A pro forma application for new machinery would be an early step toward redevelopment of the mill.
