Aero club’s new addition

The newest addition to the Canterbury Aero Club’s fleet, a Piper Warrior 161. The $34,500 aircraft is being evaluated as a trainer to replace the Cherokee 140, which is being

phased out of production by the Piper Aircraft Corporation. The club’s present fleet of training aircraft consists of 11 Cherokee 140 s. The training aircraft were usually flown for 10.000 to 12,000 hours be-

fore replacement, said the club’s manager (Mr J. J. Goddard). The club would look to replacing more aircraft within the next year. However, the fuel supply might have some effect" on this. The Piper Warrior car-

ties lour persons, the same number as the Cherokee, but is 16km/h faster. The fuel consumption of the new aircraft is the same, although the Warrior is capable of carrying a heavier payload.
