Church panels’ secretary
The Rev. D. Povey, of Alexandra has been appointed secretary of the Joint Commission on Church Union and the Joint National Committee on Church Extension. Mr Povey (pictured), a minister of the Alexandra-
Clyde Union Parish, will take up the Wellingtonbased post in June. A Presbyterian, Mr Povey was educated at Christchurch Boys’ High School, Canterbury University, Otago University and the Theological Hail, Dunedin. He served at St Andrew’s parish, South Canterbury, before moving to Central Otago. Mr Povey will replace the Rev. R. J. Weeks, who ,has been interim secretary since June, last year.
