Death from gunshot wound
Westport reporter A schoolboy died yesterday after being fatally wounded in a shooting accident at Ikamatua. He was Steven Seymour, aged 12. a son of Mr and Mrs Darcy Seymour, of Ikamatua. , He was found beside Rough Creek Road at 9.15 a.m. by a passing motorist. An ambulance and doctor were called from Reefton. The boy, still alive, was given ' on-the-spot attention by the doctor, but later died while awaiting a blood transfusion being sent from Greymouth. A shotgun was found beside the boy. The police are not looking for anyone in connection with the incident and are treating it as an accident. It is believed that the boy discharged the shotgun while climbing through a fence.
