Busy time for Mr Videler

PA Auckland It promises to be a busy couple of days for the Christchurch referee, Mr Harry Videler, as he compiles the 14 reports made necessary after a spate of bookings and orderings-off during the week-end’s preseason soccer semi-finals and finals.

After booking seven players as well as the Newmans Nelson United coach, Mr Doug Moore, during the Air New Zealand Cup semifinals on Saturday, he later sent one of these players off.

Mr Videler yesterday added a further five players to his list to bring his tally in his last four matches to 22.

Many referees and other officials at the games fully supported Mr Videler in his decisions, but the big crowds at Newmarket Park on both days did not appear to share his view and it is believed that a number of coaches throughout New Zealand are initiating moves to have Mr Videler moved from the Rothmans league referees’ panel.
