Varsities tournament
PA Auckland Auckland has won the annual universities sports tournament, held in Auckland over Easter. However, it had a close battle with Canterbury, who finished only five points behind. The pair out-dis-tanced the other five universities, Massey finishing third with just 19 points.
Yesterday was the final day of competition, Auckland and Canterbury sharing honours in the volleyball, while Auckland won the fencing. Auckland also won both the men’s and women’s tennis, while Canterbury won the snooker and rifle shooting.
