Articulated truck for joyride
An articulated truck was taken on- a midnight joyride) from Rangiora to the Lewis) Pass last Saturday night. The Bedford truck was! taken from the Cone Street) yards of Transport North Canterbury Ltd, on Saturday! evening and was seen leaving Rangiora at 1.30 a.m. onSunday. The police later) found" the truck on State highway 7,- near the Lewis Pass. It is believed that the in-) cident was related to a sim-j ilar vehicle theft at Cheviot] last Friday morning. Jack-! son’s Garage at Cheviot was] broken into and a Land-; cruiser was taken as well as ( three cartons of cigarettes; and $8 in cash. This vehicle was later found about skm! from the articulated truck. [ Car converters were also-' active at Culverden on Sat-!) urday night. A parked car was stolen! and was found at Masterton i yesterday. One offender was] apprehende and two otners; are s II sought bythe police. : It is thought that the car converters were also respon-l sible for the takine of the; articulated truck.
