New sponsor
The southern regional soccer league — and the qualifying league — will be sponsored by Midland Coachlines this year.
The southern league will be known as the Midland Coachlines Soccer League and the sponsor has put forward a total of $3OOO prize money to be shared between both grades. The southern regional council will decide on the distribution of the prize money but one suggestion which should be well received, has been to allocate about $l5OO for first, $5OO for second and $250 for third.
In addition the winner of each qualifying league could receive about $2OO with the runners-up getting $75. The secretary of the council (Mr Trevor Gottermeyer) was delighted with the arrangement and described the sponsorship as a “great boost.” “They are helping us and I am sure the clubs, in one way or another, will help the sponsor,” he said. Mr Gottermeyer said that although the sponsorship was for only one year at present, there was a strong chance of its continuing for at least two years.
