Home town victory in Nelson sprint?

By

J. J. BOYLE

Cracker Day and Sean’s Gift are capable .on their best form of putting up stout resistance against the “foreigners” in the second leg of the Nelson Jockey Club’s T.A.B. double tomorrow.

They are both trained on the Richmond course, and will be running at close to their best distance of 1400 m tomorrow.

i Cracker Day was a close land unlucky ’second to El Nicky over the same distance at the Hororata meeting last Friday. Sean’s Gift did much of his summer racing in strong fields in the North Island. He found success elusive on his holiday racing, but was a close third in the Auckland Racing Club’s King’s Plate, won by Fraxy, and beat all but Grey Way in the Visitors Handicap at the Wellington Cup meeting. Andamooka and Highland Flight are expected to spearhead a North Island challenge on the Caltex Handicap. first leg of the T.A.B. double. Andamooka beat a stronger field than this one in the $6500 Ashhurst Cup in January. More recently he was second over 2000 m on the testing Stratford course. T.A.B.
