World XV notches up second victory
NZPA-Reuter Stellenbosch, South Africa The World invitation rugby team touring South Africa notched up a 22-6 win in the second match at Stellenbosch on Saturday. But its opponents, the Danie Craven team — named for South Africa’s rugbv chief — put up a better display than the score suggests. Several times it produced stylish movements towards the World XV’s touchline, only to miss its chances at the last moment. The man of the match was the world team fly-half, Phil Bennett, who repeated the deadly kicking he showed when his side beat the Defence Force 28-16 in the first game of the tour. On Saturday the Welshman put over three penalties and converted one try. But the biggest cheer came when the Craven side’s black centre, Molosi, collected a clearance kick and sent over a fine drop goal from 30 metres. Scorers were.— World team: tries. Bill Osborne (N.Z.), Jeff Squire (Wales), conversions, Phil Bennett (Wales); penalties, Bennett (three), lan Robertson (Rhodesia). Craven team: penalties, Naas Botha (Northern Transvaal); drop goal, Edwards Molosi (South African Rugby Union).
