Russell Coutts has good lead in Laser sailing
PA Timaru The Dunedin yachtsman, Russell Coutts, is in an almost unassailable position with only one race remaining in the New Zealand Laser-class championships it Timaru.
Yesterday morning's race Is under protest — Coutts. Ihe second-place getter, and lhe third-placed Gavin Auld each protesting against the Ither.
Because both have performed so consistently during the championships the Outcome of the protest is unlikely to upset the final points as each contestant drops his worst performance] n the seven-race series. Alan Garbatt scored his' first win of the series
yesterday morning with a comfortable victory. The race started in a 15-knot north-easterly, but a substantial wind shift meant the course for the final two legs had to be changed.
