‘Lincoln Lope’
One hundred and fiftynine runners have entered the “Lincoln Lope” 10km road race to be held by the Canterbury Road Runners Association today. Entries officially closed last Saturday because the race was to have included a sealed handicap, but the organisers will now accept late entries because the handicap section has been cancelled.
Top runners competing include the present leader of the championship series, John McDonald and his son
David of the Olympic club, Canterbury, Brent Rollo (New Brighton), Gary Whiting (Ashburton), Gavin Craig (Toe H), Dave Thomas (New Brighton), Gary Clarke (Olympic) Brendon Daly (Rovers) and Wayne Rouse (St Martins). The top women, Kathryn Ball, and Judith Buick (Christchurch) have also entered. The race will start from the Lincoln Hotel at 6.15 p.m., not 2 p.m. as earlier advertised. Runners must be registered.
