Death after collision
A Christchurch man died after his small car and a truck collided at the intersection of Wainoni Road and Bickerton Street at 10.15 a.m. yesterday. He was John Charles Lewis, aged about 70, of 2B Heron Street. South Shore. Mr Lewis, the sole occupant of the car, suffered
severe head and chest injuries. He was taken by St John ambulance to the Christchurch Hospital, where he died about 6 p.m. The driver of the truck was not injured. The police yesterday appealed for witnesses to the accident to get in touch with the motor accident inquiry office at the Central Police Station.
