6000 homeless

As many as 6000 to 7000 people are reported homeless after Cyclone Kerry devastated wide areas of the eastern Solomons at the weekend. A Government relief operation began yesterday to get food, tents and blankets to villagers in the areas hardest hit. Extensive damage is reported to houses and crops. —Honiara.
