Pictures in string
Have you tried making pictures out of wool and white and coloured string? String pictures are fun and you can invent your own. designs — anything looks good, from trees to stars. Make lovely loops and twists with string and curve it into a comical elephant balanced on a ladder. Pull straight lines and form stiff town houses with bright doors. Curl the string again and form smoke rising from chimneys. Think of your
own Ideas and enjoy your* self. Here is what you need: coloured or white cover paper; strong glue, such as rubber cement; cardboard, such as shirt carboards; white and coloured string, wool, and extra materials for details which could include buttons and braid. First, glue a piece of coloured or white cover paper to your piece of cardboard. This will be the background for your picture. Next, lightly draw in the main parts of your
'design. You do not have to draw in everything as it is fun to create some parts of your design as you go along. Put the strong glue down on the areas where you are going to place the string or wool. Twist the string into the shape of your design and press it into the glue. Allow it to dry and then wipe off the excess glue.
For extra details, dip string in glue and attach to top of your picture and experiment with buttons and braid in some parts.
