Hybrow. a mature roungster, proved much too jood for Tango Hanover in Jie Cardigan Bay Stakes, at Msxandra Park on Saturday, tlthougb his time for the title of 2min 7.8 s was noth-
tg to enthuse over. The West M e! ton -trained
'Blue Schell broke down dur-r ing the running of the Stew-j jards’ Free-for-all, a race forh which he was a commanding I favourite. “It must have): happened just after the’l ■start,” said his driver, John ' | Douglas, “He just couldn’t pace properly and was very : sore in a hind leg.” The oldtimer, Waipoun- , lamu, completed a fine double jfor Henry Skinner when he i outfinished Framalda and ; Yankee Talent in the Au Re- i voir Handicap. The 10-year- i I old had finished fourth the previous Wednesday and ap- ; preciated the extra 500 m. i All three place-getters are i engaged in the trotting sec- i
ition of the Inter-Dominion ' Championship series next month. | The Chertsey owner- | trainer, Colin McLaughlin, had a change of fortune when Remorse, driven by Fraser Kirk, was successful in the Committee Handicap. Her chances did not look good 200 m out, but Delightful Lady and Moon Commander moved very wide to avoid Welsh Kiwi and Egmont Kawhai, which had crashed through the inside running rail 1200 m earlier. Kirk took advantage of this to push Remorse through inside them and she won by a length. '
