Tennis veterans in several finals
Several competitors; finished the Australasian; veterans’ tennis] championships by competing; in more than one section; final at Wilding Park yesterday. One was the Victorian, B. ] Rae, who reached three; finals and was successful in ] two, the women’s singles in both the over-40 and over-45 sections.
Another to reach three finals but with less good fortune was the New South Welshman, A. Bailey. He was a beaten finalist in the
> [men’s over-40 and over-45 , | doubles and also lost the . over-45 singles. ’[ The longest final was the 11 over-40 women’s doubles in i[which the third and deciding : |game went to 12-10 before IMesdames J. O’Brien and L. i Masson (Victoria) took the [title. : | The Waikato pair of R. i Simonsen and H. McDougall 1 lost both the over-60 and ‘ over-65 men’s doubles and in addition McDougall was
forced to default in the singles over-65 final when his contest with T. Comber (New South Wales) was very evenly poised.
