Bracewell out

Only one change has been made in the New Zealand team for the second cricket test gainst Pakistan which [will begin in Napier on February 16. The injured Bren[don Bracewell has been replaced by Gary Troup '(Auckland).

| Troup’s inclusion has been [based probably on his left[ha..Jer’s line worrying the Pakistani right-hand batsmen but it is a somewhat surprising one. Troup is not without test experience, he played one match on tour against India in 1976, but he has not had a rewarding season. He has twice taken three wickets in an innings; in the Shell Series but his] 16 wickets have cost almost; 30 runs each.

It seemed more likely that Alistair Jordan (Central Districts) or John Cushen (Auckland), both of them very strong and aggressive bowlers, would have taken Bracewell’s place. > Troup, aged 26, played league cricket in England last year and when called on by the New Zealand touring team, then short of seam bowlers because of injuries, he bowled very ably in the match against Sussex. The 12 New Zealand players for the test are: M. G. Burgess (captain), J. G. Wright, B. A. Edgar, J. V. Coney, J. K. Parker, W. K. Lees, G. P. Howarth, R. J. Hadlee, B. L. Cairns, S. L. Boock, G. B. Troup, R. W. Anderson.
