Glasgow raids in terrorist hunt

NZPA-Reuter Glasgow united Kingdom police have rounded up 37 people under the Anti-terrorism Act in a big check into links between Protestants in Scotland Northern Ireland. Informed sources say guns had been seized in the raids, which began last Sunday. Detectives of the police Special Branch, which handles investigations affecting security, are questioning 32 people detained in the Glasgow area and in Dumfries 140 km to the south, and 5 people in Coventry, England.

No charges have been laid. The police can hold detainees for Questioning for up to seven days under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, provided they have Ministerial approval.
