Prancer takes the eye

The Cambridge visitor, Prancer, took the eye at Wanganui on Thursdav as he prepared for the Wanganui Jockey Club’s Birch Handicap this week-end. His partner. Transcend, and Girasol were others to earn a following for their week-end tasks.

Prancer gave Transcend a two length start when they left the 1200 m mark on the plough. Transcend had worked further ahead in the middle stages but Prancer gathered him up in a stride or two in the run home and was under a tight rein to complete the assignment in Imin 17s, the last 600 m in 37s being the fastest section. Prancer is in top form. For the second time this week Girasol had mastered her two-year-old stablemate, Trail Of Tears, in training. Girasol was in command at I the finish of 800 m on the [ course proper in 50s, the •last 600 needing 38s.
