Quebec chills
Fhe Quebec Plot. By Leo Heaps. Peter Davies, Ltd. 213 pp. $10.40.
This tautly-constructed and realistic thriller describes a plot by Quebec extremists to take over the Canadian province and declare an independent, Francophone and anti-American. Left wing state. Support for the plot — extending to the clandestine supply of nuclear-tipped missiles — is given by the French Government. An American journalist discovers the story, at great risk, after the disappearance, of a colleague working on the same investigation. The novel’s considerable impact owes much to the credible characters and the chillingly believable plot. —A .J. Petre.
