Boy swept to death
PA Palmerston North A boy aged "5, drowned and two children were rescued from the sea off Himatangi Beach, west of Palmerston North, yesterday. The police have not yet released the name of the boy but it is believed that he was on holiday in the area from Porirua. A spokesman for the Palmerston North Surf Lifesaving Club said that the boy, a girl, aged nine, and another boy, aged 11, had apparently fallen into a hole about 200 m north of the flagged area and were swept out to sea.
