Kara Taumaunu (Wharenui) failed by O.lsec to make a clean sweep of the boys 13 years agegroup at the Canterbury swimming championships when he finished second in the last event, the 400 m freestyle, at Queen Elizabeth II Park last evening. Melanie Jones (Wharenui) had a comfortable win in the senior women’s 400 m freestyle and Rickie Binning (Wharenui) won the junior girls' title with similar ease. Kim Dewar (Wharenui) won her eighth title in the girls’ 13 years section by winning the 400 m freestyle.
