The mighty Big Fop
When the S2M Great International Circus comes to town with its entourage of 250 people, it will bring with it 30 semi-trailers,
numerous heavy-weight containers and 5500 chairs for comfortable viewing in a Big Top capable of seating 8000.
The group size of the Big Top is 88m by 67m and the height to the top
of the centre of the dome is 20m.
The huge tent is supported by six main king poles measuring 24m high, 38 wind poles 11m high and 52 quarter poles 8m high. All these poles have double hold-down roles as safety precautions. Guy ropes are tied down with 2000 ground pegs which are driven in by a special
tractor with pile driving attachment.
The roof consists of 6689 sq m of Cordux in green. There are almost a thousand sq m of red Cordux which has been used for the seams and
decoration. Fourteen sections of the side walls are made from 2090 sq m of Cordux.
