Nuclear submarine visit
Sir, — Protection? When any on? of S. Westermann’s “half a dozen Soviet submarines ... in or near Auckland harbour” could in wartime obliterate everything within umpteen kilometres of the Haddo, and when the Haddc itself has only one created purpose — to obliterate half a dozen “wossname” in or near Auckland harbour? Protection? Will S. Westermann swear that it was all worth while? Protection! Heaven protect us from the “strange innocent ignorance” of those who do not protest. — Yours, etc., ken McAllister. January 23, 1979.
