Death in house fire
PA Napier A man died in a house fire in Napier on Saturday night. He was Patrick Maxwell Hanley, aged 50, a Napier City Council gardener. Mr Hanley was the sole occupant of a flat in the second storey of the 65-year-old wooden house in Fitzroy Road where the
fire appeared to have started. Three machines from the Napier brigade attended the fire. Two other flats in the building suffered only smoke and water damage. The police said there were no suspicious circumstances but the cause of the fire was not yet known.
