Gorman dropped the first set in a 7-1 tie-breaker before rallying to defeat Anand Amritaj, of India, 6-7, 6-1, 6-3. Pattison also required three sets to defeat Jaime Fillol, 3-6, 6-\ 6-3, and Riessen disposed of Eric Van DiHen, 6-4, 6-4.
