London markets
Share prices were firmer’ on the London Stock Exchange on Friday, despite the continuing truck drivers’ strike which has influenced trading sentiment. The "Financial Times" industrial index gained 4.4 points to close at 478.9. for a net gain on the week of 4.2 points. The London stock market opened the week on a slightly firm note despite the industrial gloomy j outlook because of the truck drivers' strike. The better-than-expected ’ U.K. ecember trade figures helped push prices up near the close of trading. Trading was mixed on Tuesday, and the prospects of the Government imposing ’ tougher price controls depressed market sentiment further. On Thursday, trading continued at a minimum
