Survey to cover Chch cyclists
Cyclists who commute m Christchurch could find a questionnaire taped to the ■ handlebars or seats of their/ 1 bicycles next week. The Canterbury branch of J Friends of the Earth, an en-, vironmental organisation,! will- distribute copies of ai; questionnaire in and around;' Christchurch to find outh what use is being made of; bicycles, and what attitudes H cyclists have towards vari-11 ous proposals for the devel- i 1 opment of new cycling faci-H lities. '1 The surveys will be taped i 1 to. bicycles parked on the:l streets and in bicycle standsb at shopping centres, fac-H
/lories, and recreational areas. The survey has been supported with a grant by the Environmental Council. A report an the results is expected to be available by i April. 1 Representations on the survey findings will be made [to the local planning authorlities. Cyclists will be asked how many vehicles for personal transport there are in their households: whether the bicycle is fully equipped for night riding: how many times they have had their ’ bicycles stolen; and how many times a week the [ bicycle is used.
